Trenchless Sewer Repair: Fix Your Sewer Line Without Digging Up Your Yard

For decades, fixing a damaged sewer line meant tearing up your yard, driveway, or even your basement floor. Today, trenchless sewer repair technology offers a minimally invasive alternative that can rehabilitate your sewer line in a fraction of the time — and without destroying your property.

What Is Trenchless Sewer Repair?

Trenchless sewer repair (also called pipe lining or CIPP — cured-in-place pipe lining) rehabilitates a damaged sewer line by installing a new pipe within the old one, without excavation. A flexible liner saturated with epoxy resin is inserted into the damaged pipe, inflated against the pipe walls, and then cured (hardened) using heat or UV light. The result is a seamless, jointless new pipe inside the old one.

Benefits of Trenchless Pipe Lining

The advantages over traditional excavation are significant. Your yard, driveway, landscaping, and hardscaping remain intact — we typically access the pipe from just one or two small access points. The new pipe is smooth and jointless, actually improving flow compared to old clay or cast iron pipes with their rough interiors and multiple joint connections. The epoxy lining is resistant to tree root intrusion and corrosion. Most jobs are completed in one to two days. And while the upfront cost is typically similar to traditional replacement, the savings on landscaping restoration make it significantly more economical overall.

Is Trenchless Repair Right for Your Sewer Line?

Trenchless pipe lining is appropriate for most sewer line damage including cracks, fractures, leaks, and minor root intrusion. It works with clay, cast iron, PVC, and concrete pipes. However, it's not suitable for pipes that are completely collapsed or severely offset at joints — those situations require traditional excavation and replacement. A camera inspection determines whether your pipe is a candidate for trenchless repair before any work begins.

The Trenchless Repair Process

First, we perform a camera inspection to assess the pipe's condition and confirm it's a candidate for lining. Next, we hydro-jet the pipe to clean the interior thoroughly — the liner bonds to clean pipe walls for maximum effectiveness. Then we measure and prepare the liner, insert it into the pipe, inflate it, and cure it in place. After curing, a final camera inspection confirms the liner is properly seated and the pipe is fully restored.
